ABOUT US

A CREATIVELY DELICIOUS SPACE FOR EVERYONE

Shared Table ATX (formerly Starving Artist ATX) is inspired by the people that will be making the food and the people that will be eating it. The organization comes from the heart of founder, Bari Goldojarb. A trained social worker, Bari has spent her career working with people that have had some challenges to overcome, whether it be a disability, leaving an abusive partner, or trying to figure out how to survive after exiting foster care. Through her most recent work with young people experiencing homelessness, Bari came to see the power of food–it supports life, but also brings comfort, is a way to connect with and elevate one's family and heritage, and is a way to give and receive love. The therapeutic elements of food allow it to be a platform for healing and growth both personally and professionally.

Every element of the TAY Fellowship Program is inspired by and designed by the youth who have and will participate in the program. Every element of the program will be guided by the youth's reigning cry: "Nothing about us without us!" They have the power to write their story, and we want to make sure they have everything they need to do it.

For success to be possible, one must define success for themself.

BARI GOLDOJARB,MSW

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Bari has framed her decade-plus career in the nonprofit sector on the basic principle: "nothing about us without us." Bringing with her all she's learned from the people she's worked with, inspired by her personal love of food and cooking, and driven by her mission to do whatever she can to build a more equitable society, Bari created Shared Table ATX.

A trained social worker, Bari has worked with diverse groups of people, including young people experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as major corporations with their corporate social responsibility initiatives. For all these groups, food was a powerful force–it provided sustenance,  but also brought people together, served as a comfort, and was a way to celebrate success.
